What should I bring practice?
Do I need to buy spikes?Spikes are not mandatory for meets. On some of the course you may find that they are beneficial but it is an athlete's preference.
Meets What should I bring to meets?:You need to be ready to run in all weather and be outside for an extended period. Items to make sure you have are; your uniform, extra socks, trainers, spikes (if you run in them), extra clothes, rain or cold weather clothes, healthy snacks and water.
Will I run every meet?
- We run every day so you need to be prepared for the weather. Make sure that you have warm clothes and clothes you can run in when it is hot.
- During practice you will run in your trainers not your spikes. They are only for races.
- Practices are from 2:50-5:00 Monday through Friday. Saturday practice is at 8:00. It is expected that you are dressed and ready for practice in the wrestling room when practice begins. Changes to practice times or locations are listed on the home page and are tweeted out.

Will I run every meet?
- Yes, with the exception of Griak and Sectionals.
- The eight fastest runners make up the varsity team and the remaining runners are junior varsity team.
- The top five finishers on the team make up the team score.
- The score is the place that they runner crosses the finish line. The lowest team score wins the meet.
- Red flag: turn left
- Yellow flag: turn right
- Blue flag: go straight
- Cutting/touching flags or assisting runners results in disqualification
- If there’s two flags on one pole, follow the top one the first time you run past it and the bottom one the second time.
- Boys and Girls both race 5000 meters (3.1 miles)
Parents
What should parents expect at meets?
- Spectators are encouraged to watch the athletes through out the race. Make sure you are wearing clothing that will allow you to be comfortable in the weather and able to move around the course.
- Do not run along with your athlete at races or hand anything to them. This is grounds for disqualification.
- Be aware of where you are in relation to the race so you are not on the course and impeding other athletes from their race.
- Have a positive attitude no matter how good or bad your athlete’s race was. Encourage your athlete to have a positive attitude and learn from their past races.
- The Wednesday night before a meet a team it is held at a runners house and put on by one or more parents. They are not mandatory but it is a fun way to get involved with the team.
